You need to complete 1 or 2 years internship after your graduation to work as practicing pharmacist. If your interest lies in Industrial Pharmacy you should apply in some of Pharmaceutical companies. If you want to work as hospital pharmacist, you should join any hospital who offers on the job training for pharmacists. In Karachi Agha Khan Hospital and Liaquat National hospital offer complete one year training with certification. There are few more also but I can’t recall their names now. In the mean time you should apply for your registration in Pharmacy Council of Sindh for you professional license .If you are planning to work overseas like Middle East you should have at least two years working experience in Pakistan to appear for their Professional License exam.

Don’t be confused but try to explore all possible opportunities to start your career.

Wish you good luck .

First of all, you’re in one of the most lucrative fields in Pakistan as well as in the international job market. Stay focused and motivated, and opportunities will knock the door!

1) Let’s begin with your resume. You’re clearly missing some important keywords. See if some of the following terms are relevant to your education or internship experience.

  • Pharmaceutical Operations
  • Prescription Dispensing/Compounding
  • Client-orientation
  • Inventory Control
  • Vendor Relations
  • Clinical Applications
  • Drug Development Regulations & Standards
  • Database Management
  • Data Interpretation
  • Medical terminology
  • Medical Device
  • Biotechnological Advancement
  • Biostatistics Methods
  • Product Safety
  • Quality Assurance
  • Pharmaceutical Research
  • Patient Counseling

Go back to your coursework and text books. They are also a good source of finding keywords that can be listed under “Areas of Knowledge” or used throughout the resume. Don’t include a laundry list. See what’s relevant and best describe what your abilities.

2) Apart from your degrees, your greatest strengths are your internship experiences. Give more details of your roles, responsibilities and–above all–your accomplishments in those positions.

3) See if you can possibly get involved in the following professional associations.

  • Pakistan Pharmacists Association (PPA) http://ppapak.org.pk/
  • Pharmacy Council Pakistan http://pharmacycouncil.org.pk/PI.php

4) Set up a LinkedIn account (if you already don’t have one) and try to network with other professionals, professors and industry leaders. You can find their names in the above-mentioned websites.
