To become a software engineer, you will obviously need to look for a PEC recognized PUBLIC sector university other than that you get admission in FAST, NUST or some other high standard PRIVATE university. Karachi University is good for Software Engineering and Computer Science. Regarding skills and Job, it all depends on how much strong Skills are. It doesn’t matter from which university you get degree. Degree in software field only helps you to get an interview call. All other things depend on your skill set. There is a difference between Software Engineer. If you are interested in pure Programming or want to become a software programmer, go for Computer Science. If you want to become a mix of programmer and analyst type person, go for Software Engineering.

Walekum AsSalam, Thanks for writing this email. I am more than glad to answer your queries. As per your current situation first thing you need to do is to put your whole effort in improvising your XII year percentage which will open up more opportunities. Second, there are two options are still available one; Sir Syed University of Engineering and two; University of Karachi (Pre-req: Inter with Mathematics or equivalent with at least 55% marks). KU’s faculty is very good.

To answer about PEC registration, as a Software Engineer you do not need to get registered with PEC. Software Engineering is a very good field and it has lots of potential and it is continuously growing all over the world. I would suggest to get your expertise sharpen in Microsoft technologies.

Hasnain Malik

N.E.D is one of the best university to do software engineering. Every Engineering course must be registered from Pakistan Engineering council
